Hi I’m Rob— a California native raised in the coastal hills of Southern California.  

Growing up, you could find me out on a surfboard or on my bike. I spent my childhood years riding, jumping and racing my first BMX bike whenever possible.  My passion for riding was evident. If my feet were off the pedals for a moment, I invested time to maintain my bike and found inventive ways to make it better.  

I grew up in a hilly neighborhood, and all my friends seemed to live at the bottom of the hill. At the end of the day, I rode up a series of steep hills to get home.  During that torturous climb, my thoughts would drift — I imagined myself riding a bike with a motor to effortlessly propel me up the hills.  I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was thinking about electric bikes.  

Fast forward to the year 2000, I started to follow the development of electric bikes, but quickly identified the technology wasn’t evolved enough to create a functional and reliable electric mountain bike. The batteries were simply not suitable for the performance level or reliability I sought after. I monitored the advances in battery technology and motor development.

Finally, in 2012, I felt that the technology started to reach the level of power needed to build my first electric bike.  With that, I embarked on my first bike conversion. I encountered many problems and suffered from many technical shortcomings with that build. However, over the years, I sought to solve all the technical difficulties to successfully create a functional high-powered electric bike.  My relentless pursuit and research paid off. Now, I believe I cracked the formula to produce high-powered electric bikes with the level of performance every mountain biker desires. Just as I did as a child, I still love building and working on bikes.
